We are excited to bring the 10-21 Police Phone app to your vehicle's dashboard with Android Auto. This integration, called Auto Enablement, is designed to provide you with a safer, more convenient way to access essential communication tools while you're on patrol. By minimizing distractions, you can keep your focus where it matters most: on the road and your surroundings.
Key Benefits for You
Enhanced Safety: Utilize a simplified, large-button interface on your vehicle's display to make calls without needing to handle your phone.
Improved Efficiency: Quickly access your recent calls and cloud contacts to streamline your communication workflow.
Familiar Experience: If you already use Android Auto for navigation and music, using the 10-21 app will feel intuitive and straightforward.
How to Get Started
Update Your App: Make sure you have the latest version of the 10-21 Police Phone app installed from your phone's app store.
Log In First: Before you can connect to your vehicle, please open the 10-21 app on your phone and make sure you are logged in to your account. This is a critical step.
Connect Your Phone: Connect your phone to your vehicle using a USB cable or a wireless connection, just as you usually would for Android Auto.
Launch the App: Once connected, find and tap the 10-21 app icon on your vehicle's dashboard screen.
Navigating the Features The in-vehicle experience gives you access to three main screens:
🕥 History: See a list of your recent calls and Callback Requests.
📖 Contacts: Access and call anyone from your 10-21 cloud contacts list. You can scroll or use the A-Z jump-to-letter filter on the left side of the screen.
⚙️ Settings: Access basic in-app settings, such as toggling Call Recording and Follow Up text, or viewing your outbound Identity and Extension.
📞 Placing and Managing a Call
To prevent accidental dials while operating your vehicle, the app requires a two-step confirmation process.
When you tap a name in your History or Contacts list, the app will open a confirmation screen.
You must press the large Call button at the bottom of the screen to officially start the call.
While on a call, your dashboard will display the contact's name, phone number, and a call timer. You have access to three quick controls:
End Call: The large red button will hang up the call.
Mute: Easily toggle your microphone on or off.
Audio Route: Switch your audio output between your car's speaker phone and your handset device.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: The app on my dashboard says I need to log in. What do I do?
A: For your security, you must be logged into the app on your phone before it can work in your car. Safely park and disconnect your phone, open the 10-21 app, log in, and then reconnect it to your vehicle.Q: Why can't I edit or add a contact through my car's screen?
A: To minimize distraction, the in-vehicle experience is focused on core calling functions. All contact management (adding, editing, or deleting) must be done directly within the app on your mobile phone.Q: My calls aren't going through. What could be the problem?
A: This is usually due to poor cellular reception. Check your phone's signal strength. If the problem continues, ensure the 10-21 app has been granted Microphone permissions in your phone's main settings.
